the magnet story: three years ago, when i visited the magnet story:

three years ago, when i visited tuscany for the first time, i went into a little souvenir shop in pisa. i purchased a postcard and wrote to tyler then and there, telling him how excited i was to marry him in italy. (we had talked about marrying each other for years prior.) i bought a cute little rectangular magnet at the same gift shop with a white house along the rolling hills and cypress trees.

when we toured our first wedding venue (the one we chose) i couldn’t get over seeing a cute little white house in the distance. it was so picturesque and made me feel like this was as close to tuscany as i was going to get, having our wedding in california in 2021. the image of the house stuck with me, but i didn’t really overthink why—i just liked how it looked.

then one morning, i was standing in front of our fridge, looking at the cute little magnet i bought in tuscany.

and then it hit me: it looked familiar!

i realized it looked exactly like the view i’d fallen in love with at our wedding venue.

the golden hills, the cypress trees, the white color of the house, its red roof, even the arched windows & doors: they were all the same.

the truth is: finding our venue was not the easiest task for us. even after we toured it, though i knew it was my favorite of the three venues we visited, i couldn’t stop researching, spending hours a day looking for any other options that would have been even just 10% better. but none of the other options met all our needs while also giving us the feelings we wanted our venue to make us feel: expansive, vast, open, free.

i didn’t want to say “i do” in any kind of enclosed space, even if it was outdoors.

land and sky.

it would be more sacred that way—more *us*.

but, it wasn’t until we were pretty sure we were going to book this place that i had the realization about the magnet.

the sign, the confirmation, came AFTER the commitment.

sometimes, the sign you’re searching for, hoping for, comes after you express your intention.

you move, and God moves.

wow wow wow.
how surreal.
